A USEFUL PLACE TO BEGIN

The RPC Management System Diagnostic

Finding the friction that consumes senior-leader time and slows execution

When decisions, recurring problems, and difficult conversations keep returning to senior leaders, it's easy to treat each as a separate performance problem.

But the pattern may point to something larger: a management system that isn't yet helping people set clear priorities, solve problems together, make sound decisions, and follow through.

The Management System Diagnostic helps you see the larger pattern—and decide what deserves attention first.

What the diagnostic examines

Based on what you have observed during the past 90 days, you will assess 28 statements across seven interconnected dimensions:

1. Clarity & Priorities

Turning organizational priorities into clear agreements and consistent action.

2. Decision-Making

Clarifying ownership and enabling sound decisions without unnecessary escalation.

3. Systems Thinking

Considering processes, relationships, skills, and assumptions before acting.

4. Problem-Solving & Follow-Through

Addressing underlying causes and turning decisions into reliable action.

5. Communication & Conflict

Surfacing disagreements, communicating directly, and sharing information early.

6. Delegation & Coaching

Providing the guidance, feedback, and follow-up each situation requires.

7. Team Health & Trust

Working reliably across roles, handoffs, commitments, and tension.

What you will come away with

The Diagnostic helps you see where the system is working, where friction is consuming senior-leader time, and which patterns carry the greatest business consequences.

You’ll leave with one or two priorities for closer attention—not merely a set of scores.

Who is it for?

The Diagnostic is intended for founders, CEOs, COOs, Heads of People, and other senior leaders who can observe patterns across a management team.

It may be especially useful if you find yourself thinking:

  • “Every decision seems to funnel through me.”

  • “I’m managing my managers instead of leading the company.”

  • “We keep revisiting the same problems.”

This is not an employee-engagement survey or a test of individual managers. It is a structured way to examine how the management system is functioning as a whole.
